To read the date, we say:

  * Mercredi 17 février 2021 :	« **mercredi dix-sept février deux mille vingt-et-un** »

  * Vendredi 1er juillet 2022 : 	« **vendredi premier juillet deux vingt-deux** »

  * dimanche 21 mai 2023 :  	« **dimanche vingt-et-un mai deux mille vingt-trois** »

There are two ways to say the years before year 2000

  * 1952 : mille neuf cent cinquante-deux ou dix-neuf cent cinquante-deux.
  * //1952 : "thousand nine hundred fifty-two" or "nineteen hundred fifty-two"//
 
  * 1835 : mille huit cent trente-cinq ou dix-huit cent trente-cinq.
  * //1835 : "thousand eight hundred thirty-five" or "eighteen hundred thirty-five"//

To know what the date is, you say:
  * Quel jour sommes-nous ?
  * //What day are we?  (what’s the date ?)//

And you’d answer: 
  * Nous sommes le 7 décembre 2021 
  * //We are the seven December 2021  (it is the 7th December 2021)//
