Ce soir, **on** va au cinéma !
//We’re going to the movies tonight!//

En France, **on** aime les bons repas avec du fromage.
//In France we like good meals with cheese.//

**On** demande Monsieur Müller au téléphone !
//Mr. Müller on the phone please.//

=====Use=====

« on » is often used in French.

 

There are 3 main uses :

 

It means “nous” (we)       

  * Tu manges avec nous ? On va au restaurant !
  * //Are you eating with us? We’re going to the restaurant!//

It expresses a general idea:

  * On dit souvent que le français est une langue difficile.
  * //It is said that French is a difficult language.//

Il désigne une personne indéterminée :

  * On frappe à la porte ! Tu vas ouvrir ? 
  * //Someone’s knocking at the door! Are you getting it?//

=====Construction=====

« on » is a singular personal subject pronoun

The conjugation of verbs is identical after "on", "he" or "she".

  * Nous sommes d'accord ? On est d'accord ? 
  * //Do we agree ?//
