Introduction
Tu prends un café avec moi ?
Are you having a cup of coffee with me?
Je n'ai pas le temps ! Tu comprends, je prends un train dans une demi-heure !
I’m in a hurry, you understand (see) I have to take the train in half an hour!
Mais boire un café prend seulement 5 minutes !
But drinking a cup of coffee only takes 5 minutes!
Use
The verb prendre (to take):
- Les moyens de transports : Je prends le train, je prends l'avion.
- Means of transports: I take the train, I take the plane.
- Le temps : Le voyage prend 2 heures.
- Duration: The trip takes 2 hours.
- Les objets : Je prends un parapluie, je prends une valise.
- Objects: I’m taking an umbrella, I’m taking a suitcase
- Les activités quotidiennes : Je prends le petit déjeuner, je prends une douche.
- Daily activities: I’m taking breakfast, I’m taking a shower.
The verb apprendre (to learn) :
- Les études : J'apprends l'économie à l'université. Vous apprenez le français avec “Intercountry”
- Studies: I’m learning economy at the university. You are learning French with Intercountry.
- Les informations : J'apprends la nouvelle sur le journal.
- News: I’m reading the news in the newspaper.
The verb comprendre(to to understand) :
- La pensée, la compréhension : Je ne comprends pas la question !
- Thinking, understanding: I don’t understand the question!
- La composition, la structure : Le test comprend 20 questions.
- Composition, structure: The test has 20 questions.

Remarque
Do not pronounce the final « d » or « ds »
- Je prends un taxi. (prends = = > [pren] )
